Langiri is a vibrant dance performed by women during Eid celebrations in Kinbidhoo. Known for its energetic and rhythmic movements, the dance is set to traditional music that fills the air with excitement and joy. It is performed all four days of Eid during the late afternoon.
The dancers wear colorful Maldivian attire, commonly known as Dhigu Hedhun, and move in synchronized routines that showcase the cultural heritage and stories of the community. Each performance is a lively display of tradition and celebration.
At the end of the performance, the men express their appreciation through a tradition called Malaafiy Negun. They reward the dancers for their graceful and efforts.
This exchange is a meaningful part of the celebration, highlighting the respect and unity within the community. Langiri, with its lively dance and deep cultural roots, has been performed through generations and is still carefully preserved today. It remains a cherished part of Eid festivities in Kinbidhoo.
